Editing and Proofreading Services for you
Neither proofreading programs, such as the spell checker on your computer, nor AI replace editing by a professional editor and proofreader. Above all, these programs/tools do not read between the lines or capture the sense of language subtleties in context. This is where I come in.

Editing belles-lettres/fiction literature, a check of the characters, plot and arc of suspense is included as well.
If you want me to proofread your academic thesis in German language, I will also check compliance with formal requirements/standards (e.g. correct presentation of figures and tables). Additionally, I can work for you on the layout of your academic text work, if desired. Please note that I will not check the content for truthfulness or plagiarism. Furthermore, neither do I offer rewriting in this context nor academic ghostwriting.
Post-Editing of Translated Texts or Translation Editing
Machine translations are not necessarily convincing. They are often incorrect, mistranslating words and expressions or are imprecise. Words or entire sentences may be forgotten. I am not a studied translator, but I have already worked on texts at an international level re. translations from another language to German, comparing the text to the English, Italian and/or other translation in order to find correct expressions that were intended by the author.

I work with many types of text files (also Microsoft PowerPoint, PDF). Usually, I revise texts in Microsoft Word using the „Track Changes“ feature.

Sending Text File(s) and execute Prepayment
Accepting my offer, please send me your text file and further information, if not already done so. An advance payment may be necessary.
Order Confirmation
As soon as I have received all the necessary information to process your order (and if applicable the prepayment), I will send you an order confirmation by e-mail.
Refreshed Text
You will receive the completed proofread/edited text back from me by e-mail within the agreed deadline. I prefer to work in Microsoft Word format with the „Track Changes“ feature. You will also receive your text back in this way – if you have chosen this file format. In PDF or PowerPoint format, I will use the comment feature to make notes for you.
Please note that it may be necessary to do some editing on your part if the document contains comments with questions for you (which is usually the case). Therefore, please allow a certain amount of time for post-processing or incorporation of suggested corrections, especially if you work on an academic paper. Please do not calculate the time for this process too tightly.
Invoice
You will receive the invoice as a PDF file either together with the edited text or afterwards by e-mail. If you have not executed a prepayment or a partial advance payment by then, I ask you to settle the (remaining) invoice amount within a few days.
General Information about Accuracy
I assure you that I do my utmost to detect and avoid errors or deviations from the norm. However, I cannot guarantee a text absolutely free of errors (no reputable editor/proofreader would do so).
Price Information
The higher the quality of the text that you have created, the less time it will take to revise it, which will also minimize the costs for you. I can assure you that your text will be read at least two times, preferably with a longer break in between, which benefits the quality.
If no hourly rate has been agreed upon and the text has a length of several pages, I usually charge by standard page of 1500 characters including spaces.
Proofreading starts at 3.50 Euro/standard page. For a minor freshening-up taking approx. 30 minutes, I charge a minimum fee of 39.00 Euro.
